You can establish a company in Taiwan in two ways: as a new company or as a foreign company expanding its business through branches, offices, or subsidiaries. A foreign office represents the parent company in non-business matters like customer interactions, after-sales service, contract signing, quotes, procurement, and bidding. To expand your business in Taiwan, you must establish a branch or subsidiary and invest in local business activities.
Product and Pricing Contact UsCurrently, the corporate income tax rate in Taiwan is 20%. Subsidiaries are required to pay an additional 21% withholding tax on the remittance of after-tax profits, while foreign branches are exempt from paying any additional tax on the remittance of net profits. Offices are not subject to EIT or withholding tax on remittance of earnings because they are not able to engage in business activities. For foreign companies that establish an office or branch in Taiwan, they can only rent office premises in commercial or office buildings. Residential apartments or buildings are not permitted to be registered, but they may opt for a business center or virtual office as their registered address.
